Wave Electric responds to urgent electrical situations across Baldwin County, storm damage, burning smells, sparks, water-damaged panels, and total loss of power that isn’t explained by a tripped breaker. If you’re not sure whether what you’re dealing with qualifies, call. Jimmy would rather walk you through it on the phone than have you wait on something that’s actually serious. Call 251-656-4601.

When you need this

  • A storm has damaged your service entrance, meter, weatherhead, or panel
  • Water has gotten into a panel, outlet, or any electrical equipment
  • You smell something burning from a switch, outlet, or panel
  • You see sparks, scorch marks, or smoke from anywhere in your electrical system
  • A tree, branch, or debris has pulled the service line off your house
  • A breaker is hot to the touch, won’t reset, or has clearly failed
  • Total loss of power in a building that isn’t explained by the utility being down

What to do right now if it’s an emergency

If there’s any active fire or smoke, call 911 first.

If it’s safe to reach the main breaker, turn it off. That kills power to the whole building and removes the immediate danger.

Stay away from any water that might be in contact with electrical equipment. Do not touch downed service lines or anything they’re touching, even if the power appears to be out.

Then call Jimmy at 251-656-4601. If he answers, describe what’s happening and where you are. If he can’t answer immediately, leave a message, he checks them constantly and will call back quickly on emergency situations. For non-life-safety issues that still can’t wait, the quote form is the fastest way to get on the schedule.

What the response looks like

When Jimmy gets to your property, the first job is making it safe. That means isolating the damaged section, killing power to whatever can’t be left energized, and identifying what needs to be repaired before anyone is back inside or before Alabama Power can re-energize the service. Storm calls often need coordination with the utility, if your service entrance is damaged, Alabama Power won’t reconnect until a licensed electrician has repaired your side of the meter. Jimmy handles that work and the paperwork that goes with it.

For non-storm emergencies, burning smells, dead panels, sparks, the work is diagnostic followed by immediate repair where possible. If a part needs to be ordered, Jimmy will tell you that, secure the system in a safe state, and schedule the return as soon as the part arrives. Licensed and insured work, even when it has to happen fast.

Electrical Power Restoration

Power restoration is the piece that happens after a storm, a car-versus-pole, a fallen tree on the service line, or any other event that took your electrical system offline in a way the utility can’t fix from their side. Alabama Power and Baldwin EMC will restore service to the meter, but if anything on your side of the meter is damaged (the weatherhead, the service entrance conductors, the meter can, the mast, the panel itself), they won’t reconnect until a licensed electrician has repaired it and the county has inspected the repair.

Wave Electric handles that work end to end. Jimmy assesses the damage, quotes the repair, coordinates with the utility on the disconnect and reconnect timing, pulls the emergency permit, makes the repair, and gets the inspector out so power can be restored. On the commercial side, the same process applies for a store, restaurant, or industrial building that lost service and needs to be back up as fast as physically possible.

The phone is answered 24/7 for emergency dispatch at emergency rates, which matters because a hurricane doesn’t wait for business hours and a walk-in cooler full of inventory doesn’t either. From Fairhope to Gulf Shores to Bay Minette, Jimmy will get you restored as quickly as the utility, the inspector, and the parts allow.

Hurricane season on the Gulf Coast

June through November is when most of the emergency calls come in. Tropical systems, even ones that don’t make landfall, can drop enough rain and wind to take down service entrances, push water into outdoor outlets and meter cans, and bring trees down on overhead lines. Wave Electric prioritizes storm calls during and after weather events across Baldwin County, Fairhope, Daphne, Spanish Fort, Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and the surrounding area. From your home to your business, Jimmy will get you safe first and back to normal as fast as the work allows.
