Whole-home rewiring replaces the wiring inside your walls, the part of your electrical system you can’t see and probably haven’t thought about until something started going wrong. A lot of homes around here were built between 1965 and 1980, when aluminum was used for residential branch circuits across Alabama. What the process looks like

For an existing home, Jimmy starts with a walk-through and a free quote. He’ll look at the panel, pull a few outlets, check the attic and crawlspace, and put a number on what a full rewire actually involves for your house. You’ll get a written quote, a timeline, and an honest answer about what can be saved versus what needs to come out.

The work itself is staged. Wave Electric pulls the permit, runs new circuits from a new or upgraded panel out to every device in the house, and uses fishing techniques that minimize drywall cuts. You’ll have some patching to do at the end, that’s unavoidable, but Jimmy keeps the access points small and predictable. Most whole-home rewires take three to seven days depending on the size of the house and how accessible the walls and ceilings are. The inspector signs off and the house is good for another fifty years.

For new construction, Wave Electric handles the full electrical scope, rough-in before drywall, trim-out after paint, panel and service install, and the final walkthrough with the inspector. Aluminum Wiring Replacement

A lot of homes built in Baldwin County between 1965 and 1975 have aluminum branch-circuit wiring behind the walls, and it’s the single most common reason Jimmy quotes a whole-home rewire. Aluminum itself isn’t the enemy. It’s what aluminum does at the terminations that matters: it expands and contracts more than copper with every load cycle, it oxidizes into a poor conductor at the connection, and over decades those connections loosen and heat up. Heat at an outlet or a switch that isn’t rated for aluminum is how these homes end up on the fire report.

Wave Electric handles aluminum wiring two ways depending on the condition of the house. A full replacement pulls every aluminum branch circuit out and replaces it with copper, which is the permanent fix and what most insurance carriers want to see on an older Fairhope or Daphne property before they’ll renew. A targeted retrofit uses AlumiConn or COPALUM connectors at every outlet, switch, and junction to convert the termination to copper without opening the walls, which is a valid interim option and one Jimmy can walk you through if a full rewire isn’t in the budget yet. Either way, it’s licensed and insured work, permitted, and documented.

New Construction Electrical

New construction electrical is the full scope from a bare slab to a signed final inspection. Wave Electric handles residential custom builds across Baldwin County and works with GCs on the commercial side as well. Jimmy sizes and installs the service and panel, runs every branch circuit during rough-in, coordinates with the framer, plumber, HVAC contractor, and low-voltage trades so nothing gets crossed up in the wall cavities, and comes back after paint for trim-out (outlets, switches, fixtures, appliance hookups, and the final walk with the inspector).

The advantage of doing new-construction electrical right is that everything downstream is easier for the life of the building. Correct grounding at the panel, generous circuit counts in kitchens and baths, dedicated circuits where they matter, plenty of receptacles in bedrooms so nobody’s running extension cords, and proper AFCI and GFCI protection everywhere current code requires it.
