What the process looks like

For a portable generator setup, Wave Electric installs an interlock kit on your existing panel and an outdoor inlet box where you’ll plug in the generator during an outage. When the power goes out, you start the generator, plug it in, flip the main breaker, and bring up the circuits you actually need. Most installs are done in a day.

For a whole-home standby system, the install is bigger. Wave Electric sets the generator on a pad, runs the gas line connection (with the appropriate gas contractor), installs the automatic transfer switch next to your main panel, and wires the control circuit.
